CAPTIONS, CAPTIONS, CAPTIONS
“The feeling of the uselessness of what I am doing is linked to this other feeling that nothing is more serious.” ― Maurice Blanchot, Faux Pas.
Chamber is launching a new website that will serve as a tool to feature short, original texts on contemporary architecture and design.
Why do we engage with specific works created in the recent past and not others?
CAPTIONS, CAPTIONS, CAPTIONS asks architects, designers, photographers, writers and academics from around the world to take some time to write on a chair, building, drawing, book, garment, or any other object of their liking created by someone else. Varying widely in tone and style, the writings will be archived digitally and in printed matter. We hope to paint a loose picture of the contemporary cultural landscape by contemplating on the things around us.
Every week one caption will be uploaded to the site. Length: 500 words (approximately). Requirements: To write on a work created in the past twenty years. Writing needs to be original and unpublished. The style of writing is open to the participants. In addition, we require at least one high resolution image of 300dpi or more (preferably landscape and also unpublished) to meet future printing demands. Language: English. Compensation: Should the work be selected for publishing, a fee of 50 USD will be handed to the author.
