Residency
Popayán, Cauca,
Colombia
The residency will take place from June 3 to June 9, 2024 in Popayán, Colombia; linking a constellation between the Autonomous Intercultural Indigenous University (UAIIN-CRIC) with the three components of the University: Political, Pedagogical and Administrative, alternating between collective dream workshops with plants and theoretical sessions with the NOMASMETAFORAS Collective, rituals and pedagogical meetings with the Council of Elders and the pedagogical team of the UAIIN-CRIC Indigenous University.
The collective NOMASMETAFORAS composed by philosopher-pedagogue Clara Melniczuk & the artist Julian Dupont, have been knitting a process articulating contemporary art practices, philosophy and autonomous pedagogies in relation with the Indigenous Regional Council of Cauca. Committed to the indigenous knowledge of the Cauca region in Colombia, their artistic practice is developed by activating spaces of listening and reflection that maintain a constant search to disarticulate Western anthropocentrism, allowing a multiple inhabitation beyond the human.
The Autonomous Intercultural Indigenous University of the Indigenous Regional Council of Cauca—CRIC, is an Institution created by and for Indigenous communities; its actions and purposes are framed in the exercise of self-government, in the educational experience of the CRIC through the Intercultural Bilingual Education Program. Currently, it has 12 training processes, among them: Communitarian Pedagogies, Administration and Self-Governance, Good Community Living, Native Languages, Intercultural autonomous Law, Revitalization of Mother Earth, Intercultural Autonomous Health, Intercultural Autonomous Communication, Pedagogies of Ancestral Arts.
The group of students for the residency will be composed of participants of the MA in Arts EurArTeC of the University Paris8 and students of the Autonomous Intercultural Indigenous University, as well as the open call to National and International applicants with the vision of creating a pedagogical space of equivocity; towards a shared spiral imaginary. Moving away from worlds that are built upon the division between nature and culture, how can we conceive of our identities as relational vectors without situating them from the anthropocentric entropy imposed on the “non-human”, how can we make these relationships visible through dreaming, artistic, medicinal, pedagogical and poetical practices?
