This semester, the GWU Corcoran “Research + Practice” event series is an invitation for creative practitioners to share with students and the DC arts and design community their candid career histories. Through expanded artist-designer talks, visiting artists and designers discuss their work as responsive to their life experiences and describe the paths to their accomplishments. They offer the insights of their backgrounds and inspiration for others who are just starting out… or starting over.
The “Research + Practice” event series launched in the 2023–24 academic year as a way to connect GWU Corcoran students with arts-design practitioners. Students gain real-world insights by engaging with researchers and professionals across the arts and design. Past participants include:
Kelli Anderson / Holly Bass / Ama BE / Heidi Boisvert / Kara Braciale / Philip Brookman / Natalie Campbell / Michele Carlson / Marc Choi / Andrea Dietz / Matt Eich / Josh T Franco / Ken Grossinger / Curran Hatleberg / Schilica Howard / James Huckenpahler / Katty Huertas / Irfana Jetha Noorani / Chanel Johnson / Kin Kelley-Chung / Jon Key / Aasawari Kulkarni / Carmen Montoya / Lauren Onkey / Babette Pendleton / Patrick McDonough / Siobhan Rigg / José Ruiz / Nidhi Singh Rathore / Jennifer Stager / Susan Sterner / Allyson Vieira / Sid Williams / Ning Yu.
