The spring 2026 season of the “Research + Practice” event series at the George Washington University’s Corcoran School of the Arts & Design starts this month. Visitors to the GWU Corcoran must register to attend; please visit the school’s Eventbrite to confirm a seat for each of the following dates.

Wednesday, January 21: Mary Calvert / Wednesday, January 28: Bella Varela / Wednesday, February 11: Margaret Boozer / Wednesday, February 18: Kiel Mutschelknaus / Wednesday, March 25: Artur Galocha.

The creative practitioners presenting at this semester’s GWU Corcoran “Research + Practice” event series build on a project in bringing together the arts and design in dialogue. The GWU Corcoran learning community and the artists and designers of the DC region recognize a shared purpose in elevating the culture-shaping work(s) of diverse and free expression. The “Research + Practice” happenings are a supportive platform for connecting ideas and people across the creative fields; they encourage interdisciplinary exchange as a vital ingredient in advancing both arts-design scholarship and the arts and design in society.

The “Research + Practice” event series launched in the 2023–24 academic year as a way to connect GWU Corcoran students with arts-design practitioners. Students gain real-world insights by engaging with researchers and professionals across the arts and design. Past participants include:

Kelli Anderson, Holly Bass, Ama BE, Heidi Boisvert, Kara Braciale, Philip Brookman, Nursena Caksen, Natalie Campbell, Michele Carlson, Marc Choi, Andrea Dietz, Nekisha Durrett, Matt Eich, Joey Enriquez, Josh T Franco, Ken Grossinger, Curran Hatleberg, Schilica Howard, James Huckenpahler, Katty Huertas, Irfana Jetha Noorani, Chanel Johnson, Kin Kelley-Chung, Jon Key, Aasawari Kulkarni, Carmen Montoya, Lauren Onkey, Babette Pendleton, Patrick McDonough, Siobhan Rigg, LJ Roberts, José Ruiz, Nidhi Singh Rathore, Arsh Raziuddin, Jennifer Stager, Susan Sterner, Allyson Vieira, Sid Williams, Ning Yu.
