fluent is a non–profit arts organisation, presenting cycles of consecutive exhibition modules, texts, and public programs. Founded in 2016, its current location within a glass pavilion defines and broadens the nature of our programs. This architectural form is a prelude to the desire for making visible how forms become socially possible, structured, and distributed.
fluent promotes interdisciplinary interactions and collaborations with different institutional, non–profit and educational systems, both nationally and internationally. This also connects to the will, developed over the years, to rehearse ecologies of institution–making in response to different socio–natural and political structuring: What does it mean to be a small contemporary arts organisation in an age of extraction, racism, financialization, invisibility, extinction, nationalism, depoliticization and violence? How can we contribute to a desire for collective shift?
Opening up to multiple voices and practices which constitute the ‘‘us’’; fluent radicalises imagination as a means to propitiate new forms of ecology. Through this, we aim to examine the impact and potential of forms as learning and unlearning processes, both individually and within collective dynamics.
Since 2021 fluent also hosts a working–space and a specialized bookshop.
