In 1997, as an enthusiastic independent curator, Laurie de Chiara opened de chiara|stewart gallery in Chelsea with partner Richard Stewart. Today, the New York City native runs De Chiara Projects, an evolving and continuing presentation of artistic projects in the gallery space and beyond, from New York to Berlin and back. The galleries have participated in many art fairs over the years, including Artissima, Arco, FIAC, Artforum Berlin, Art Brussels, Scope, Zona Maco, Miart, Bologna, Guadalajara Art Fair, and many smaller art fairs as well. De Chiara Projects maintains a residency in Berlin and has opened a new gallery concept in Kingston, New York.
