Students are expected gradually to take increasing responsibility for managing their work to prepare them for professional life beyond the college walls. By means of its teaching and research, the Academy also aims to develop the field of art with new methodologies and a more profound understanding of its nature, and to contribute to the public discourse in this field.
The Department for Contemporary Art and Creative Writing in Tromsø is the world’s northernmost fine arts college. The Academy was started in 2007 and accepts only a small number of students each year for courses in fine arts and creative writing.
