The Institute of Fine Art at the University of Art Braunschweig wishes to appoint a university professor for Fine Art, specialising in Sculpture in Context, salary grade W2 from April 1, 2027 (deadline for applications: December 14, 2025). The successful applicant will be appointed as a civil servant in accordance with German civil service regulations, if applicable, or otherwise as an employee. This is a permanent appointment.

University of Art Braunschweig (HBK Braunschweig) is an internationally orientated university specialising in the arts, and has the right to confer doctoral and “Habilitation” (professorial) degrees. With around 1,000 students enrolled in faculties including Fine Art, Art Pedagogy, Performing Arts, Design, Visual Communication, Art History and Aesthetics and Media Studies, the HBK is one of the biggest universities of the arts in Germany.

We are looking for an outstanding, internationally recognised artist whose work and teaching encompass intermediality and performativity, representing the possibilities, strategies and processes of sculpture and installation in the context of current social and cultural issues in contemporary art.

The new professor’s responsibilities will include teaching for students enrolled in Fine Art degrees, including the “Meister” degree programme.
