A streaming series of staff picks and recommended videos designed to disrupt the monotony of an algorithm.
Before the end times of big data, we used to discover suggested content along dusty shelves in video rental stores, where post-it notes scribbled by shift workers implored us to experience the same movies that made them guffaw, scream, or weep. Sometimes the content bored us, sometimes it overwhelmed us, and sometimes, as if by magic, it was just right. e-flux Staff Picks invites you to relive this rental store mode of perusal, with personalized picks curated through judgment that does not take into consideration your viewing history.

Artist Cinemas is a series of film programs curated by artists. Started in 2020, past programs include selections by Christian Nyampheta, Oleksiy Radynski, Iman Issa, and many other artists and filmmakers.
Recent years have seen a vast proliferation of moving image in art exhibitions and an increasing interest in artists’ work by film festivals. Most of these platforms reflect the perspectives of curators and film selectors, who usually do not make films themselves. Artist Cinemas, however, is open to the vulnerability and enchantment of the artistic process—producing visual forms of knowledge that exist outside of academic or institutional frameworks. This program also acknowledges the circles of friendship and mutual inspiration that bind the artistic community.
